Clearing Fees

The clearing fees that are to be paid by the balance responsible party to AGCS are fixed by E-Control GmbH. 1

Depending on the amount and type of energy turnover in a balance group, each balance responsible party must pay a monthly clearing fee to AGCS.
The current fees are:

  • For each chargeable unit of energy consumed 2 in the balance area, EUR 0.0374 per MWh, and
  • For each chargeable unit of energy traded 3 in the balance area, EUR 0.001 per MWh.
1NOTICE: The current clearing fees result from the amendment to the Clearing Fee Decree that entered into force on 1. January 2011.
2The chargeable unit of energy consumed corresponds to the sum of the consumed metering units on the debit side of a balance group.

3The chargeable unit of energy traded is calculated based on the total energy expenditure 4 less the consumed volume in a balance group.

4The total energy expenditure of a balance group is the sum of the debit side (energy sold [selling schedules], consumption [consumed metering units] and supplied balancing energy) – this corresponds to the sum on the credit side (energy bought [buying schedules], feed-in [feed-in metering units] and received balancing energy).
